Ranked one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the world, the Gold Coast has a lot to offer in terms of residences and attractions to visit while touring or residing in the area. Below are 8 attractions that we find very appealing to the average tourist and residence who resides in the Gold Coast.

Charnley-Persky House

This historic house museum is located on 1365 North Astor Street in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Designed by Frank Llyod Wright and Louis Sullivan, famous architects, this residence is known to be a very important part of modern American architecture. Visitors can receive guided tours of this masterpiece every Wednesday and Saturday. What’s even better is that admission is FREE on Wednesdays for individuals.

Ever been on a tour that allows you to pay whatever you think it’s worth? Well, now you have! You can take a food, walking, or bike tour that operates on a pay-what-you-like basis. International Museum of Surgical Science

Anyone interested in health and medicine will enjoy visiting The International Museum of Surgical Science. The museum has 10,000 square feet of public galleries committed to the history of surgery, and an astonishing collection of art and artifacts from the history of Medicine for visitors to enjoy. The museum is located on 1524 N. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, Illinois. What makes it even better is that admission is free on Tuesdays for Illinois residents with a valid ID.

John Hancock Building

The John Hancock is a 1,128-foot supertall skyscraper located on 875 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Being the thirty-third tallest building in the world, the building is home to offices and restaurants, as well as about 700 condominiums. It’s in your best interest to visit the 95th floor restaurant, where diners can look out at Chicago and Lake Michigan! It also comes with an observatory that gives the Willis Tower’s Skydeck a run for its money, which allows you to view 4 states and gives you a 360 view of the city.

A Red Orchard Theatre

Theatre happens to be emphasized in this area as well. The Red Orchid Theatre is very edgy and produces great shows of great scope and insight. The Theatre has received the highest awards honoring Chicago Theatre, which is The Joseph Jeffersons Award, and the MacArthur award. It has also been nominated and won many other awards not mentioned here. One can visit the theatre at 1531 N. Wells Street, Chicago, Illinois.

Newberry Library

Free and open to the public, the Newberry library is an independent research library. Anyone interested in expanding their knowledge base can help themselves to exhibitions, meet-the-author lectures, adult education seminars, and other programming. It’s a place of interest that historians and researchers enjoy visiting.
